Steady progressed is way forward - Griffin

12:00pm Fri 8th Aug 08:: written by Mark Roach

Club director Peter Griffin believes continued steady progress is the way forward for the club this season.

He said: “The most important aim is to build on the last couple of seasons and for the team to play with pride.

“We had a very good finish to last season and we are looking to push on from that.

“A solid mid table finish will be progress for the club and, who knows, we might be able to go a step further and put ourselves in a position to challenge for a play-off place.”

Griffin added: “We’ve got some decent players on board now and, with the core of players, this is the best prepared squad in the five years.

“One big positive is that the young players that were involved last season have a year’s extra experience behind them.”

“As far as the team is concerned it’s all about making steady progress - and having a little bit of a daydream that something special might happen.

“We are going into the new season full of hope.”

Chairman Una Loughrey added: “I am really looking forward to the new season - it can’t come soon enough.

“There is a tremendous air of excitement around the club and we look forward to the new season with a lot of promise because of the progress that is being made.

“Drax has still only had one full season and he is now starting to show how well he can work with players to get the best out of the team.”
