Pupils are 12th on SATs list

11:20am Thu 7th Aug 08:: written by Staff reporter

The Royal Borough has said SATs results for 11-year-olds are looking good - despite the uncertainty surrounding a substantial minority of individual papers.

National concern about the quality and reliability of marking of the Key Stage 2 tests held in May, extended to the borough with more than 100 papers returned by primary schools to the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) for re-marking.

However, the council said figures released on Tuesday flag up the continued success being achieved in its schools.

The borough was named joint 12th in the country for English with 85 per cent of pupils achieving level four or highter.

The same national position was secured for science with 91 per cent of pupils achieving level four or higher.
