Tribute to man killed in police pursuit

3:42pm Tue 5th Aug 08:: written by Francis Batt

The family of the young man killed in a collision on the A308 on Saturday night, have paid tribute to him.

Christopher James Ramirez, 23, died after his blue Vauxhall car was in collision with two other vehicles on the Windsor Road outside the Oakley Court hotel at about 11.40pm.

In a statement released by his family today, his sister Suzie Shearer said: "Chris was the life and soul of the party, always smiling, cracking jokes and doing his crazy 'skipping' dance.
"Chris lived life to the full and was deeply loved by his family and friends. Our hearts are broken and will never recover."

Originally from London, Chris came to live with his sister Suzie in Windsor in 2003.
He was known to friends as 'Romez'.

It is understood his car was being followed by a marked police vehicle at the time of the collision.
An investigation has been launched and the matter has been referred to the Police Complaints Commission.

A female who was in the front passenger seat of the car remains in a serious condition in hospital.

  • the driver of the car did not know the police where following him, they were going to pull him over, but by the time they had pulled out of the layby his car was not in sight. so they headed in the direction he was going in and came across the crash scene.at no time was there a chase ,so until you know the facts why comment about the other cars..keep your useless opinions to yourself.. have the police spoken to you ? i guess not..family member

  • Builder, you obviously didn't know Chris. There was in fact noooooo car chase so until you have the facts don't react and put pointless comments on a news report. Highly disrespectful. Chris, I love you and miss you every day. There isn't a minute that goes by when I don't think of you. xxxClose friend
