Another Post Office gets the chop

The axe is set to fall on another Royal Borough Post Office following a statement issued today.

Post Office Ltd has announced that South Ascot Post Office in Brockenhurst Road, Ascot, is to close.

It comes despite submissions from the Royal Borough, Sunninghill and Ascot Parish Council, local businesses and MP Adam Afriyie. 
They raised concerns about the difficulty elderly and vulnerable residents could face in accessing the alternative branches.

But the Post Office Ltd argues both the High Street and Sunninghill branches are just over a mile away and offer a service for the local area.

Gary Herbert, Post Office Ltd's Network Development Manager for Berkshire, said: "We know that any decision to close a Post Office branch will often be unpopular but we have to put the network on a more stable footing for the future."
