Morgan hacked off by performance

Wraysbury were toppled off the top of Chilterns League Division 1 on Saturday as they fell to defeat at the hands of Binfield to hand top spot to defending champions Taplow.

As Gordon Morgan’s side continue to blow hot and cold, Binfield’s visit to the Green was a particularly poor display of cricket from Wraysbury.

“I’m completely hacked off,” voiced captain Morgan. “We turned up on Saturday with no application. It’s just a disgrace. We weren’t at the game and it’s happened to us before.”

Winning the toss and batting first, Wraysbury were bowled out for 136 in 43 overs as only Naseer Chohan put up any resistance with 49.

Sykes took 4-21 and Carson 3-24 to deny Wraysbury a decent score.
Binfield’s reply took 27 overs as they climbed to 137 for the loss of just two wickets with Massey knocking 72.

“We can’t bat like that,” explained Morgan. “Don’t get me wrong, Binfield were great, but we were poor.

“We’re making silly mistakes and it’s so frustrating. But we’re not giving up just yet.”

Morgan’s side took a miserly three points from the match.

Tomorrow Wraysbury can aim to get back on track with an away trip to Chalfont St Giles and skipper Gordan Morgan will be ringing the changes from the weekend.

“I will be making changes,” he stated. “Jamie Patel will come in from the 2nds to bat and I’ve got a change behind the wicket. We’ve got a couple of players knocking on the door from the 2nd XI.”

Morgan believes that if his side do not record a win tomorrow then they will have to hope Taplow slip up.

“Chalfont are a fairly decent side and we will have to bowl well and see what happens,” he said. “We’ve got Taplow in two weeks at our place and we’ll have a better idea after that game.

“But if we don’t win on Saturday then we can say goodbye to the league.”
