Young man jailed after vicious attack

11:10am Mon 21st Jul 08:: written by Lisa De Sousa

A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years at a young offenders institution following a vicious attack on a 'vulnerable' taxi driver in Langley.

Aaron John Russon was 'one of four or five men' who beat the unwitting victim unconscious before robbing him of £200.

Russon, who lived in Ripley Close, Slough, at the time of the attack in February 24, was sentenced for his part in the appalling crime at Reading Crown Court on July 14.

Detective constable Sarah Noah, of Berkshire East CID, said: “Our cab drivers provide a valuable local service. They can be vulnerable to attack, working as they do alone and late at night. I am pleased with the sentence and hope that it will go a long way in terms of reassuring taxi drivers and the wider community in Slough that crime of this nature will simply not be tolerated by police.”

No-one else has been arrested in connection with the incident. However, an investigation continues.
