Garage blaze destroys valuable classic car

10:19am Tue 15th Jul 08:: written by Alastair Beach

A blaze gutted a couple's garage and destroyed their classic car and sports motorbike worth more than £23,000 on Sunday.

Anxious police closed off two streets in Charvil as the fire took hold, cordoning-off parts of Old Bath Road and Chiltern Road due to fears the garage might contain gas cylinders.

The blaze started after a family barbecue on Sunday night.
Mr Buckham, a 39-year-old software engineer, said: "There was this popping and banging noise. I couldn't work out what it was. I looked outside and saw flames coming out of the garage."

A team of two engines and 12 firefighters were called to the house at about 7.44pm but they could not save the TVR Griffith and Triumph Sprint ST parked inside the garage.
