Bramble to be a Magpie?

11:52am Thu 10th Jul 08:: written by Steve Spencer

The brother of Premier League defender Titus Bramble could soon be signing for Maidenhead United FC if he comes through a trial.

Striker Tesfaye Bramble, 27, is currently training with the Magpies as manager Johnson ‘Drax’ Hippolyte looks to add a frontman to his squad.

“Titus Bramble’s brother Tes is with us,” said Drax. “He’s got loads of experience from Southend, but has recently had a problem with his knee.

“He’s training with us with a view to joining. We’re going to have a look at him in a couple of games and if he comes through unscathed then we’ll sit round a table, but money could be a problem.”

The Magpies players returned for pre-season training last week and Drax is delighted with the condition they are in, especially his new signings.

“Pre-season has gone ever so well,” Drax said. “To be fair to the boys they came back from summer in good shape. I told them exactly what I wanted at the end of last season and set the bar.

“The new boys have been superb. They look fit and really good. Ashley Nichols looks a million dollars. He’s fit, organised and has league experience. The boys from Basingstoke look keen.”

Despite bringing in a handful of players already, Drax will not rest until he captures a striker, whether that is Bramble or someone else.

He said: “I’ve got a good squad on paper now. I need one more striker. I’m really happy with what I’ve got but I just need to fill that missing link upfront.”

Tyrone Sealy may miss the pre-season friendlies after dislocating his shoulder in training. He is likely to be out for 2-6 weeks.

- The new Magpies home kit will be unveiled for the first time at the game against Oxford United on Saturday, July 19.

It will be worn by the players at the club’s first home league match.
