Police investigate unexplained death

5:10pm Sun 6th Jul 08:: written by Kelly Rawlings

An investigation has been launched after a man died in hospital shortly after being stopped and searched by police.

Police stopped a car in a pulic car park and conducted a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act at 7.12pm on Thursday night.

In the course of the search, a 39-year-old man started to have breathing problems and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It happened near Lee Court, Sharrow Vale in High Wycombe. The other two people have been interviewed as witnesses.

Police seized a package during the search and it will be analysed by forensic experts.

As a matter of course with unexplained deaths of this kind, the Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed of the incident and will carry out an investigation.

IPCC Commissioner Deborah Glass said: "We immediately decided that this investigation would be carried out independently. On behalf of the coroner we will seek to establish exactly what happened and what caused the death."
