Hospital matrons make a come-back

10:53am Thu 3rd Jul 08:: written by Luke Cross

Matrons will be making a return to Wexham Park Hospital over the next few months.

Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust announced it will be introducing 33 Ward Matrons, one for each ward.

Suzie Loader, director of nursing, said: "This is an important and exciting development for the Trust.
"Matrons are responsible for enhancing standards of care, ensuring wards are clean and that hygiene practices are strictly adhered to.

"These new ward matrons will help set and monitor standards and will have authority to take action where these are not met.

"Matrons are strong clinical leaders given the power to improve things for patients and families, will ensure each ward is clean, and will help in the fight against hospital infections."
