Arsonists target cars

3:23pm Tue 24th Jun 08:: written by Justin Burns

Arsonists set two cars on fire in the space of 24 hours in the Walthams.
The two vehicles were set a blaze between late on Sunday evening and this morning and police are investigating whether they are linked.

The first fire was in The Street in  Waltham St Lawrence at about 11.45pm on Sunday when a green Peugeot 106 was set ablaze.
A resident reported seeing flames raging out of the car windows.
Firefighters from Wargrave were called to the scene and put out the blazing vehicle by 12.03am. They said the car had been set alight by petrol being poured onto the back seat of the vehicle and then lit.
A black Volkswagen Polo was targeted in a similar attack in Butchers Lane, White Waltham, at 12.15am today.
It is believed the driver's window was smashed and a flaming rag thrown onto the back seat to start the fire.

Anyone with information should call police on 08458 505505.
