Death at Royal Ascot

Tragedy struck at Royal Ascot yesterday when an elderly man died.
 
Emergency services were called to a car park at Ascot Racecourse yesterday afternoon.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “Police and ambulance services were called to car park eight at about 3pm yesterday following reports of a man who was unwell.

“The elderly man was taken to hospital nearby where he was pronounced dead. His death is not being treated as suspicious and his next of kin have been informed."

The man has been named as Keith Simpson, 70, from London Road, Northampton.

Thousands of people turned out for yesterday's Ascot races for the famous Ladies' Day.

  • I just wish to thank you for noting the sad death of a well liked man from Wellingborough. 'Death at Royal Ascot'. People down there obviously don't know him but it was a fitting place for him to spend his last few hours.Derek Pales
