Card cloning scam alert

2:44pm Thu 12th Jun 08:: written by Gareth McPherson

Fears a gang of fraudsters are infiltrating Maidenhead petrol stations have been raised after yet another garage was linked with card-cloning.

One well-placed bank source told the Advertiser this week he had ‘no doubt’ a gang of criminals was targeting local businesses. It comes after after a string of garage customers were hit by card cloners during the past week.  A number relate to Murco garage in Cookham Road.

Kumar San, manager of the garage shop which uses a chip and pin machine, believes that a gang has targeted his business.
“We are working with police as they investigate,” he said.
There is no suggestion staff at the garage are involved in the scam.

Thames Valley Police said they are investigating a number of reports of car dfraud in Maidenhead that have happened since the end of May.
