Coppell's transfer plans on hold

9:00am Sun 15th Jun 08:: written by Steve Spencer

Reading FC boss Steve Coppell has told supporters not to expect too much news on the transfer front over the next two or three weeks.

Due to Euro 2008 taking place in Austria and Switzerland, most managers and players are either involved in the tournament or on holiday, meaning Coppell, like other managers, has been unable to make any progress.

The Royals boss said: “This is a dormant period right now. The Euros are on, and also most football people are away on holiday.

“It’s a very quiet time right now and it always is. At the end of this month and the beginning of next month, that’s really when things start to happen.

“By then you’ve got teams back in training, the Euros are over and attention is given to squads and doing business.

“This is just a talking time right now, it’s not an action time. I’ve got lots of agents ringing me all of the time, but only the clubs decide when things will happen.”
