Polish fans cheer on despite Germany win

8:48am Thu 12th Jun 08:: written by Nick Meakin

Bird Hills Golf club is usually a serene place on a Sunday evening with a handful of golfers quietly nursing their pints after a late afternoon round.

But any regulars to the clubhouse last weekend were surprised to find the normally quiet bar packed full of some of Poland's proudest and loudest fans.

Shouts of 'Polska Gola' (Poland score) echoed across the course as the fans cheered on their team in the European Cup.

The bar full of fans all clad in their national colours and bearing Polish scarves and flags had gathered at the club at the invitation of head chef Radek Gopreski who wanted a place where his countrymen could gather to watch their team take on old enemy Germany.
