Biker killed at race track is named

1:45pm Wed 30th Apr 08:: written by Daniel Darlington

The teenage motorcyclist who died after a crash at a racing track near Flackwell Heath has been named.

Grant Benford was riding with friends at Z Racing on Sunday afternoon when he was thrown over the handlebars of his bike, suffering chest injuries. Paramedics took him to Wexham Park Hospital but he died a few hours later.

The owner of Z Racing, Mr Peters, said he reacted with disbelief when he heard the young rider had died. "He was just a good kid having a nice day out which ended in tragedy," he said.
"It was a small crash and he went over his handle bars. I called the ambulance because I thought he had broken a couple of ribs."

An inquest into the death of the 17-year-old, from East Hampstead in Bracknell, was opened and adjourned on Monday.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information that could help their investigation into the crash to contact PC Dave Black at Aylesbury Roads Policing on 0845 8 505 505.
