Clarke excited about new challenges

9:00am Wed 30th Apr 08:: written by Graeme Copas

Teenage speedster Leyton Clarke scored a remarkable second and third in his first races in the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup driving a Vauxhall Corsa at Snetterton over the weekend.

Clarke, 16, from Willow Drive, Maidenhead, is the current SaxMax champion and will next drive the Corsa at Pembrey on Saturday, May 10.

The youngster will then head off to Belgium to test an ADR Sports Prototype prior to competing in a four-hour race at the end of the month.

Clarke is relishing his new challenges, especially driving the ADR which can reach speeds of over 170mph. He said:

"Spa is one of the best circuits in the world and while I really enjoy the Corsa, I can’t wait to drive the ADR there. The car runs on slick tyres and has full aerodynamic down force. It is a whole lot quicker than the Saxo I raced last year and a fair bit quicker than the Corsa. It will be a completely new experience for me.”
