Blasts from the past turned out for the Maidenhead United Legends XI v Geoff Thomas Legends XI in at York Road yesterday in aid of the Geoff Thomas Foundation.

Current Maidenhead United manager Johnson Hippolyte gave the Maidenhead XI the lead in the first minute, but Charlie Allen, son of Martin Allen, levelled the scores before the break.

Micky Creighton restored the Magpies' advantage in the second half and although the Geoff Thomas Legends XI carved out several good chances - the highlight an acrobatic scissor kick attempt by Simon Garner - it was left to Paul McKinnon to secure victory for the Magpies in a 3-1 victory.

Micky Hazard was the star of the show for ex Arsenal manager Terry Neill's Legends XI, which also included Kerry Dixon, (pictured in red shirt) Martin Allen, John Polston, Chuck Moussaddik, Keith Scott, Mick Gooding, Michael Gilkes, Mike Small and Barry Hunter.

Maidenhead United's veteran fixture secretary Roy Bannister, who won a competition to play in the match, enjoyed a brief cameo for the home side and former Magpie Barry Rake was given Man of the Match.

Geoff Thomas, (pictured with Tim Cook) who has battled through leukaemia, was there to watch the teams do battle in the match in aid of his charity.
