Investigation into 'tragic accident' of woman killed by train

11:02am Fri 18th Apr 08

A coroner's investigation will take place into the death of a woman who was killed in the borough on Wednesday after her foot got trapped in tracks.

Retired lecturer Terri Mansell, 66, died after being hit by the Waterloo to Windsor 7.28am South West Train service at the Moor Lane foot crossing in Wraysbury.

She had been walking a dog with her friend when the tragedy happened.

Her foot became caught in the rail and the oncoming train was unable to stop in time. Pal Heather George struggled to free the grandmother before jumping away.

A spokesman for South West Trains said: "This was a tragic accident and our thoughts are with the family of the victim."
