Supermarkets' head to head

10:59am Tue 15th Apr 08:: written by Daniel Darlington

Two supermarket giants could be going head-to-head in Bourne End.

Sainsbury's are reportedly close to securing a lease with Comland Plc to build a convenience store in Parade Court, just across the road from the proposed Tesco Express site.

"Sainsbury's has expressed every intent," said Comland's development and investment director, Simon Funnell.  They are committed to the site and we are just ironing out a few administrative details."

Comland hopes to modify its original application which said there would be no trading on site after 7.00pm Monday to Saturday, and all day on Sunday.
