Rare disease killed woman inquest rules

A woman from Taplow died from natural causes, an inquest heard today. 

Satbinder Kaur Kang, of Cardinals Walk, died on December 5 in the accident and emergency department of Wexham Park Hospital.

A report from pathologist Haytham Shiraif said that Ms Kaur, who died at the age of 42, died from a rare disease called Waterhouse Friderichsen syndrome due to meningococcal septicaemia.

The inquest at Maidenhead Town Hall heard Ms Kang had called the ambulance at 10.31am from her home, after she was suffering from stiffness in her neck and was developing a rash.

She arrived at the hospital in Slough at 11.23am, where she had three cardiac arrests.
