Burglars target homes as people sleep

2:15pm Tue 8th Apr 08:: written by Sam Moulson

A string of burglaries seen in Cox Green in recent weeks have spurred police into urging people indoors to be extra vigilant.

Officers are asking residents in the area of Maidenhead to make sure their windows and doors are secure after the spate which has seen thieves target homes as people sleep in the past fortnight.

Laura Bennett, of the Priority Crime Team, said: “Offenders have crept in through the front door and grabbed the nearest valuables - particularly handbags, wallets, car keys and laptop computers.
"In some cases they have taken car keys and used the keys to steal a car from the driveway.
"We also believe that thieves have been arriving in cars which are left running outside while the burglaries take place, so it is important to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious.”
