Friends of the Earth take on Brown

11:23am Mon 7th Apr 08:: written by Sonia Kapur

A larger than life Gordon Brown was covering his eyes while playing with an aeroplane on Saturday in Maidenhead town centre.

He was joined with others from Maidenhead and District Friends of the Earth who were raising awareness about their concerns regarding aviation.

The group, who want the Government's new climate change law to cover all sources of carbon dioxide emissions, were taking part in the national event where other members of Friends of the Earth were raising awareness for their campaign.

Kath Pinto, Friends of the Earth supporter and local resident said: "It’s crazy for Gordon Brown to leave out climate changing emissions from planes and ships from the new climate change law but that’s what he is doing.

"Why should our local industry and businesses be held to account for their carbon emissions but not the aviation industry?"
