Holyport Fair plans hit crisis point

12:26pm Tue 1st Apr 08:: written by Fran Pemberton

The future of Holyport Fair looks uncertain this year as it faces a lack of volunteers and a head-to-head with Maidenhead Carnival, which is due to be held on the same day.

Preparation for the traditionally themed Holyport Fair started back in November with plans for a June 7 event that would give revellers the chance to enjoy tractor rides, a ghost train and vintage cars, as well as a host of events such as welly throwing and a Miss and Mini-Miss Holyport.

But the fair’s committee members say unless more volunteers offer to help organise the fair in future, its future hangs in the balance.

“We are desperate for helpers,” said fair committee chairman Marysia Stone.
“Everyone comes along on the day and they love it. But sadly not a lot of people want to help to make it a success.
“The fair definitely won’t go on in the future if people don’t get involved.”

To volunteer at this year’s Holyport Fair contact Marysia Stone on 01628 639445.
