Youth Arts Festival takes off

Youngsters are set to take the stage by storm for the Youth Arts Festival 2008 in Maidenhead.

Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Altwood Road is once again running its youth festival which will put performers through their paces with a challenging mix of dance, drama and art.

The three day festival, from Thursday, April 3 to Sunday, April 6, features more than 20 workshops and shows, catering for all artistic tastes from traditional theatre to the 21st century world of street dance and hip hop.

Organisers hope to encourage young performers, from age six to 21, to get involved in the wide variety of workshops.

These include:
Introduction to street dance
Introduction to Bollywood
Introduction to disco dance
Make up for stage
Slapstick and pratfalls
Costume design
Creating a character
Animal masks and characters
Making a show in a day
Sound and lighting for stage
Comic Art masterclass
Stage combat

Norden Farm's education officer Juliet Webb said: "We are really excited about this year's festival which promises to be our biggest and best yet." 

"There are workshops for everyone whether they wish to be on stage or behind it. We hope to reach out to other groups of children and encourage them to meet new friends, learn new skills and most importantly have a lot of fun."
