Moths Ate My Dr Who Scarf - review

12:00am Fri 29th Feb 08

Last Thursday Toby Hadoke brought his whimsical, yet pointed stand-up memoir Moths Ate My Dr Who Scarf to Norden Farm Centre for the Arts.

This, as its title suggests, involved Hadoke casting a delightfully geeky eye over his lifelong TV obsession.

The familiar story of adolescent pain tied in with the exploits of this post-war time-travelling hero, often sounding like Adrian Mole if he had been a sci-fi nerd.

Occasionally Hadoke's routine strayed into the frustrated rant territory of some alternative comedy, but on the whole it had some very funny moments and a sweet conclusion.

It inevitably went right over the heads of some of the few kids present, no doubt hoping for something of the revamped Dr Who. But the majority of the 30 and 40-something audience lapped it up.

Catch him at Reading's South Street tonight.
