Clarke is driving force

12:00am Thu 1st Nov 07

The Saxmax series is the UK’s premier junior championship open to 14 to 17-year-olds where all drivers race identical 1.6 litre Citroen Saxo VTRs.
Clarke, 16, from Willow Drive, Maidenhead,  learned to drive in his father’s Porsche GT3 at the age of just 13.
He has subsequently driven a variety of high performance cars on circuits all over Europe including Spa Francorchamps and Nurburgring Nordschleife.
After his success, Clarke said: “I’ve really enjoyed racing in the SaxMax over the last couple of years. Now I’m 16 I can compete in the senior championships and would like to end up driving in the British Touring Car Championship in a couple of year’s time.
“I need to prove myself further before I can expect to get paid to drive, so at the moment it’s all about raising the money to compete next year.”

Any companies interested in investing in Clarke’s future are invited to contact him via his website (LeytonClarkeRacing.co.uk) or by calling his father, former racing driver Graham Clarke on 07836 348565.
