Shire horse centre redeveloped

The Old Shire Horse Centre and Craft Village opened officially on Thursday, August 23.
While the shire horses from the old centre have long gone there is still plenty of animal fun to be had.
A petting farm has been set up which will allow children and adults to get up close and personal with the various sheep, pigs, goats and rabbits that roam the area.
Craft stalls, housed in the old wooden stables, line part of the craft village, with a silversmith, jewellers and doll-maker all planning to fashion their products in front of browsing eyes.
Punters will also get the chance to pick up some craft-making skills themselves and can sign up for learner courses at the site, off the A4 Bath Road in Cherry Garden Lane.
The project, which has been a couple of years in the making, involves the whole Chesterman family, who hail from Hurst.
Site manager Jodie Chesterman said: "I think Maidenhead needs something like this where people can come and enjoy a good family day out. There's not much out there for people to come and have some fun and that will also educate both young old."
