Fruit farm blaze

12:00am Fri 27th Apr 07:: written by By Kelly Rawlings

Firefighters were called to Sheepland Farm off Twyford Road at about 2pm today to find an enormous stack of hay on fire.
Firefighters from Maidenhead's whole time and retained crews were there along with Bracknell, and Wokingham and Wargrave remains on site.
It is thought a spark from a bonfire landed in the neighbouring field and set fire to more than 200 tonnes of hay.
Police were called to manage the traffic on the A4 in case the smoke drifted across the road.
Maidenhead watch manager Chris Havers said: "We have been trying to put out the remains of the bonfire so we haven't got fire on two sides of the field, we can put that out because it is only small."
However, the main bales have to be left to burn themselves out.
Masses of water supplied by a hose belonging to the farmers was being pumped around the edge of the smouldering pile to prevent it spreading.
Watch manager Havers said: "Firefighters will be here for a long time."
