Dig and Dump Protest

The Shanly Group wanted to decontaminate the site by mechanical excavation with a view to using the land for housing. But councillors and residents were concerned the developer's "dig and dump' method of excavation would be dangerous, leading to an unacceptable level of noise and disturbance due to works and vehicle movements. Planning inspector Rupert Grantham will be the man who delivers the final verdict on the site's future.
