Slough finally click into gear

8:00am Fri 2nd Jul 10:: written by Steve Spencer

At long last Slough CC have clicked into gear, much to the delight of skipper Bobby Sher.

The Upton Court side overcame a struggling Finchampstead outfit by eight wickets on Saturday to keep them in the top half of the table and firmly in the hunt.

Up until the weekend, Slough’s inability to play well as a collective unit had become a cause of frustration for Sher, despite having managed to pick up two wins and two draws.

“The main thing was it was good to finally click all together,” said the all-rounder, who was the best bowler on the day with 4-38.

“All season long when we’ve spoken I’ve been complaining about us not clicking. It was good to do that on Saturday.”

With another big game at home against Falkland – who sit one place above Slough in Home Counties Premier Division 2 West – tomorrow (Saturday), Sher has warned his players not to become complacent after such a good win.

“We need to go with the same approach as we did for Finch,” he said.

“Everyone will try and perform at their own jobs and then we should click again.

“We can’t get complacent after the Finch result.”

He added: “There’s still a lot of hard work to do.

“Falkland are a much stronger outfit than Finchampstead.”
