Mudge makes first signings

Dave Mudge has wasted little time as he starts to build his new squad for next season’s Southern Premier Division campaign.

The new Windsor boss, who started his role on Tuesday, has signed midfielder Ryan Scott from AFC Totton as well as centre back Michael Buck from Reading Town.

And he hopes to have some more new faces on board soon as well as getting most of last season’s title-winning squad to return to the club.

Mudge said: “We’ve signed two players already and we’re hoping to add a few more soon.

“I’m looking to bring in four, maybe five, and we’re very advanced with most of them.

In terms of players staying with the club it’s been hard to contact a lot of them because they are away on holiday.

“But that’s something we want to sort out quickly, we need to see who is staying and who is going but from the feelers I’ve put out the majority will stay.”

He added: “We really want to keep most of the players from last season but financial issues might stop that.

“They deserve the opportunity to play at a higher level though after what they achieved.”

Central midfielder Scott arrives at Stag Meadow from AFC Totton who pushed Windsor all the way to the championship during last season’s thrilling championship race.

The 23-year-old, who lists Aldershot and Farnborough among his former clubs, signed for the club on Tuesday.

Mudge said: “Ryan is an excellent player and will be a great addition to the squad. He’s very talented and I’m sure he will make a big impact at the club.”

Buck meanwhile will join the defensive ranks at Stag Meadow following his switch from Reading Town.

Windsor beat off a number of rivals to capture the young centre-back, who captained Bracknell Town before moving to Reading.
