A thug who cut part of his victim's ear off in a glassing attack in Windsor has been jailed for six years.
Daniel Hookey, 28, hit his victim so hard over the head that the bottle smashed - before hitting him again with the broken glass, Reading Crown Court heard today.
The victim, who was 23 at the time of the attack in August last year, needed 40 stitches and surgery to re-attach part of his ear.
Jane Davies, prosecuting, said the pair had an argument in Scotch Bar, in Goswell Hill, which saw them both thrown out through separate exits in the early hours.
As the victim, who was celebrating his girlfriend's birthday, walked towards the taxi rank, Hookey, of Milton Road, Slough, took a bottle out of a recycling bin and lay in wait before attacking his victim from behind, the court heard.
Sentencing, Judge Stephen John, said it was 'a grave and pre-meditated offence with a weapon'.
Hookey, who was said to be 'genuinely remorseful' by his defence barrister, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm earlier this year.
