Sher: Whoever loses derby will get relegated

It is set up to be one hell of a clash tomorrow (Saturday).

Slough CC go to Farnham Royal CC for a relegation shoot-out which will leave one team almost certainly relegated from Home Counties Premier League Division 1.

The loser will be too far off the pace at this stage of the season to challenge for survival, making the match at Church Road one tense affair.

"I think it's going to be do or die," predicted Slough skipper Bobby Sher.

"Whoever loses is going to get relegated."

A no-nonsense assessment from the Buckinghamshire CCC all-rounder, who added: "We've been 10-15 per cent off all season and we need to pick that up now.

"We're wuite lucky to still be in a position where we can turn it around though."

On Saturday, Slough's home match with Potters Bar was a victim of the rain.

Having set a total of 226-7 and with Potters Bar at 126-2, Sher believed his side would have gone on to win the game - their first victory of the season.

"We are where we are as everyone was rained off," he said.

"If it hadn't of rained then we would probably have won.

"They only got to that score because it was raining. At the start we had them 3-2 and wanted to carry on.

"When they bowled it was a dry pitch and the ball was turning. So ourselves, with three spinners, fancied our chances, but the bowl turned into a bar of soap. We dropped a couple of catches as a result."

Michael Payne top scored with 58 and Parveiz Aziz hit 48, while Sher chipped in with 28.

Slough will face Royal minus Naeem Amin who will miss the rest of the season through injury, while Zashan Arshad has a suspected broken thumb.
