Marlow's first duathlon

12:00am Tue 11th Mar 08:: written by Daniel Darlington

The adrenalin will be pumping and the blood rushing through the veins for Marlow athletes who take part in the town's very first duathlon.

The inaugural event, like a triathlon but on dry land, is an energy sapping run-bike-run event through the narrow twisting, undulating course around Marlow, linking with Bisham, Temple and the scenic Hambleden Valley.

A total of 200 people are expected to dust of their trainers for the event which starts of from Marlow Sports Club in Pound Land on March 30, at 9am.

The race has been organised by Marlow Striders with the help of accountancy firm Harwood Hutton who are sponsoring the 39km run, and proceeds will go to Wycombe Winter Night Shelter and Longridge.

Race director, Simon Jones, said: "We’ve been massively encouraged by the response to date. It’s a great opportunity for multi-sport enthusiasts or beginners to try out a new event, in a friendly, safe atmosphere and for a good cause. We hope to see lots of locals either taking part or coming down to cheer the competitors along the way."
