Smash and grab at newsagents leave owners in shock

A newsagents in Queen Street was broken into in the early hours of this morning.

Nearly 700 packets of cigarettes were stolen from Sweet Price in Maidenhead.

At about 1.30am, the thief, who has been captured on CCTV, hurled a brick through a window near the front door to get inside the shop. It has been reported to police.

The robbery has left the owners in shock. Meena Malhotra said: "We are very shocked that this has happened. Nearly all our cigarette packets were stolen and my husband had to go to the cash and carry very early this morning for a restock."
