9:00am Fri 8th Feb 08:: written by Carla Delaney

Thames Valley businesses are queuing up to abseil 70ft down Swindon Football stadium to raise cash for The Stroke Association on Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9.

The organisers are appealing for more from Maidenhead area to join them and guarantee an adrenaline rush and a feeling of a job well done for novice and experienced abseilers wanting to help the 150,000 UK stroke sufferers.

Louise Bennett, Fundraising Manager, said: "This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a challenge!  You can do it on your own, with a friend, or in a team.  We are looking for adventurous people to take on this feat."

Registration is just £10.00 and the minimum sponsorship is £75.00.  No experience is necessary as full training will be given on the day.  Fundraising packs are available.

If you don’t fancy the leap into the unknown, the charity is looking for supporters in the Thames Valley to cheer their team or friends to success.

The event will help people with strokes - the UK’s third biggest killer and the leading cause of severe adult disability.  Funds raised by this event will help The Stroke Association carry out vital research to eliminate the illness which is a major cause of death and disability in the country.

For further information about the abseil, or to register for your place, contact our Abseil Hotline on 07799 436011 or e-mail lbennett@stroke.org.uk. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
