Hopes of Cippenham Carnival return
12:00am Tue 22nd Jan 08:: written by Gareth McPherson
The carnival may be returned to Cippenham for the first time in years after the event was shut down because of red-tape.
Hundreds used to turn up to the carnival day every year, which had its final home in the village green, before it was stopped nearly a decade ago because of issues with parking, toilet and refreshment facilities.
This time it is West Cippenham Tenants and Residents' Association who are spearheading the project and hope to have the event up and running for summer 2009.
They will be holding a meeting on February 20 to discuss the idea with a representative from Slough Borough Council.
Association spokesman George McArthur, said: "Everybody I speak to all think it's a very good idea. Hopefully it will lift the profile of Cippenham quite a lot."
