9:10am Mon 6th Oct 08:: written by Daniel Darlington

Taxi drivers in Slough have been warned to be on their guard after two drivers were assaulted and robbed at gun point.

The call for vigilance comes after two robberies, the first of which took place outside the Greyhound Pub in Albert Street at around 8.30pm on Thursday night.

The driver picked up three men from Hencroft Street South, in the town centre, and was told to pull up outside the pub where he was hit in the face with a black hand gun. The three men stole a sat nav, cash and a mobile phone before running off.

All three offenders are black and one of them was described to police as being approximately 25-years-old, 5ft 8ins, of medium build and wearing a baseball cap and a chunky light blue coat.

A second taxi driver suffered bruising to his chest and face after being attacked with a small pistol in Sandown Road, Britwell, on Saturday evening at 8.15pm. He picked up four young men from Sandown Road after a call was received from a telephone kiosk in Scaffel Road.

The offenders stole cash, a mobile phone and taxi radio and the driver attended Wexham Park hospital as a result of his injuries. All four men are black and were wearing black hooded tops.

Det Con Paul Thomas, investigating the incidents, said: "We urge taxi companies in Slough not to take bookings from withheld numbers unless they are established customers and ensure they get a full name."

Det Con Thomas can be contacted at Slough Police station 0845 8 505 505 or if you don't want to speak with police please call the Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
