Public can help police hunt burglars

12:02pm Wed 27th Aug 08:: written by Antony Quarrell

The new top cop for Windsor and Maidenhead has urged the public to play their part in hunting down burglars.

Supt Tim De Meyer, who recently took over as local police area commander for Windsor and Maidenhead, revealed the number of burglaries in Windsor and Maidenhead had returned to 'normal levels' in recent weeks after a rise in late July but he was not complacent.

"Make no mistake I want to see burglars hunted down," he said.
"There are lots of things we can do to achieve this but by far the most crucial is the support we get from the public."

He added: "There was an absolutely cracking arrest last week down to some excellent information from a witness."

Legal reasons prevented Supt De Meyer from disclosing more information about the incident at this stage but he said police depend on information from the public to make arrests."
