Boat fire in the middle of the Thames

A boat moored on the bank became engulfed in flames before drifting out into the river near Cookham Bridge on Sunday night.
Fire crews from Maidenhead, Marlow and Cookham felt helpless on dry land as the 12ft-long boat hovered around the middle of the River Thames.
It was not until a boat crew from Reading arrived that the blazing boat was finally put out.
Crews were at the scene from midnight and did not return until about 2.30am.
Jon Hicks, white watch manager at Maidenhead Fire Station, said that it was a 'drawn-out affair' but added that no-one was ever in danger.
"When it was floating there there’s not a lot we can do from the bank without committing someone to the river. It becomes a bit of a problem."
He added: "It's definitely one of the more unusual calls we have had."
Police were also at the scene. It is not known how the fire started.

- This was my boat and i still don't fully understand why people have done this, also six boats were set adrift and concrete bench thrown in the water and a car sunk to the bottom of the river
