Railway bridge plans deferred

4:00pm Thu 21st Aug 08:: written by Alastair Beach

A pair of applications to build a new railway bridge over Twyford were deferred by the town hall last night.

Developers had asked permission to replace the current Victorian bridge with a new one which would include lifts servicing all platforms.

It is hoped the new structure will provide better access for the disabled, but the two applications were put before Wokingham Borough Council's planning committee because of concerns the designs are not in keeping with the station's Victorian architecture.

Councillors decided to defer the scheme until a site visit has taken place on Monday, September 15.
