Save Windsor Fire Station: High Court date

12:45pm Thu 21st Aug 08:: written by Francis Batt

The date of the last-ditch High Court fight to keep Windsor Fire Station open 24-hours-a-day has been confirmed.

January 29 is due to be the day the Royal Borough will try and persuade a judge to overturn Berkshire Fire Authority's plan to shut the station at night between 8pm-8am.

The council won the right to argue its case in court back in April and has been waiting ever since for a date. It will argue that Berkshire Fire Authority failed to properly consult the people of  Windsor and ignored the risks to life and property that shutting their fire station at night would cause.

Council leader David Burbage said: "It's been a long wait but we are determined to take to the High Court this important case on behalf of the people of Windsor."
