Burglary hits could be linked

4:19pm Wed 13th Aug 08:: written by Daniel Darlington

Thieves struck at two houses in Bourne End over the weekend stealing a black Vauxhall Meriva with a distinctive factory fitted SAT NAV system.

The burglars smashed into a garage, in Oakfield Road,  between 7pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday, stealing a camera and printer before driving away in the stolen vehicle.

Police suspect the burglary may be linked to an incident that took place at a newsagent in the same road between 5.30pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday morning.

On that occasion, offenders ripped tiles from the roof of Corners Newsagent but were unable to gain entry into the shop.

PC Richard Martin, who is appealing for witnesses, said: "The roof (of the newsagent) is visible from the main road and people travelling towards the parade would have had a clear view of people on the roof. The fact that these crimes took place in such proximity to each other, in such a short period of time, suggests that they may be linked."

Call police with information on0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
