Time to combat litter louts

A zero-tolerance approach to litter is being adopted by the Royal Borough as it hires its own 'trash marshals' to blitz rogue rubbish dumpers garbage hotspots.

The council will also hit litter louts in the pocket with fines of up to £75.

under the tough new approach agreed at a recent meeting, those caught dropping litter in the Royal Borough will face being issued with an instant Fixed Penalty Notice with the council also finalising processes for handing tickets to juveniles.

Two Litter Enforcement Officers will be appointed on a six-month basis to boost the campiaign.

Alexandra Garden in Windsor has already been suggested as one area the litter busters will visit.

Borough chief for the environment, Cllr Colin Rayner, said: "The time has come for the end of litter louts in the Royal Borough."
