A late night police chase ended with one man dead and a woman seriously injured in hospital.

A blue Vauxhall VX220 was being pursued by a marked police car along the A308 Windsor Road when it collided with two vehicles outside Oakley Court Hotel at about 11.40pm on Saturday.

The 23-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
A female front seat passenger was cut out of the wreckage by firefighters from Maidenhead and taken to Wexham Park Hospital suffering from serious injuries.

A fire rescue support vehicle from Slough also attended the incident.

A detailed investigation has begun and the matter has also been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, standard procedure when people die during a police chase.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to call 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
