Man missing in the Thames

1:20pm Thu 24th Jul 08:: written by Antony Quarrell

A massive air and river search has been mounted as emergency services desperately search for a missing man who plunged into the Thames during a night out.

The 40-year-old man from Slough is believed to have entered the river from a boat. Firefighters were called to the water near the landing stage at Windsor Racecourse shortly before 10pm last night.

A police helicopter using thermal imaging equipment and a fire and rescue service boat searched the Thames and its banks as halogen lamps were used to illuminate the pitch blackness.

However the search was called off shortly before midnight with police underwater search teams returning to the scene today to look for the missing man.
