12:43pm Fri 18th Jul 08:: written by Antony Quarrell

Firefighters used an aerial platform to tackle an industrial boiler fire at a warehouse belonging to a military equipment manufacturer.

The fire service were called shortly after 3.50pm yesterday after fire broke out at a warehouse housing aircraft parts at AEI Systems Limited (AEIS) in King's Ride Park in Ascot.

Appliances from Windsor and Crowthorne attended the incident with the aerial appliance from Reading also being deployed.

The blaze - which occurred in the roof of the warehouse - was out by 4.46pm and firefighters declared the incident under control shortly after 5pm.

Quizzed about the blaze, Simon Angel, MD of AEIS, told the Express: "It was just a boiler fault, the boiler was being serviced at the time."

He added: "There was no damage to any other equipment or the building."

AEIS specialises in small to medium calibre weapons systems and the supply of military aircraft structures and components.
