Fire at 19th century historic inn

Firefighters were called out to a kitchen blaze at a historic coaching inn last night.

Crews from Windsor and Slough were called to the fat fryer blaze at The Trooper in St Leonard's Road, Windsor, shortly before 5.30pm on Wednesday.

An ambulance was called for a man suffering from smoke inhalation and the blaze involved both the kitchen and roof space at the premises which dates back to the 19th century.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and  remained on the scene until 8pm.
