Haskell makes Johnson's England elite squad but Guest misses out

Former Maidenhead RFC yougster James Haskell has been included in Martin Johnson's England Rugby elite squad for next season.

The London Wasps flanker, born in Windsor, was named this morning in the 32-man squad which, for the first time under a new agreement between the RFU and Premier Rugby Ltd, sees each player come completely Jonhson's control for 14 weeks of the season during the Six Nations and Autumn Internationals.

Fellow Maidenhead back row Tom Guest, who plays for Harlequins, missed out on selection and is named instead in the 32-man England Saxons squad.

Ascot-born Leicester Tigers flanker Lewis Moody is included in the senior elite squad, despite a season dogged with injuries.

There are a number of shocks in the selections which sees World Cup winners Mike Tindall, Ben Kay and Joe Worsley dropped to the Saxons along with David Strettle, Nick Easter, Michael Lipman and Topsy Ojo.

Jonny Wilkinson makes his return to the squad along with James Simpson-Daniel and Josh Lewsey.

Fly-half Charlie Hodgson has not been included in either squad.

Injured danny Cipriani, who is unavailable until November, has been included in the Saxons squad.

Surprise inclusions in the senior side include New Zealander Ricky Flutey who is eligible for England under the residency rule from September and uncapped players Dylon Hartley, Nick Kennedy and Jordan Crane.
